Head Pastry Chef
Location: Braunton Salary: £40,000 per year (dependent on experience) Hours: 48 hours per week (over 4 days, 12-hour shifts) Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Application Deadline: 22nd April 2025
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and creative Head Pastry Chef to take charge of the pastry section within a prestigious hotel kitchen. This role offers the chance to have full creative control, designing a flavoursome pastry menu that enhances the afternoon tea, cream tea, and dessert experience for guests. What Will You Be Doing?
As Head Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for maintaining the existing high standards of the pastry section while incorporating your own skills and creativity to enhance the guest experience. Key responsibilities include:
Creating and plating desserts with exceptional attention to detail. Collaborating with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth and efficient service. Maintaining strict food hygiene and safety standards within the pastry brigade. Supporting the daily operations of the kitchen in a professional and cost-effective manner. Designing seasonal menus that utilise fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Implementing food safety and health regulations to maintain a high-standard working environment. Leading, mentoring, and developing the pastry team to achieve excellence.
What Are We Looking For?
To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate the following attributes:
Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively. A friendly and professional approach to working with other departments. Creativity and initiative in developing inspiring pastry dishes using quality ingredients. A commitment to delivering high levels of customer satisfaction. A well-presented appearance and adherence to uniform and hygiene standards. Flexibility to adapt to different working situations and challenges. The ability to remain calm and focused under pressure in a busy kitchen environment. A willingness to continue learning and developing your skills. Full working knowledge of all sections within the pastry department. Previous pastry experience in a similar role, with a proven track record (minimum CDP level).
