Assistant Housekeeping Manager

North Devon | £28,000 to £29,500 | Live-in available

What you can expect

Live-in accommodation is available, with free WiFi and use of the gym and pool included. Alongside this you will receive staff discounts on resort facilities and accommodation, staff meals during shifts, and access to employee wellbeing and assistance programmes. There is real scope for training, development, and career progression, all set within a friendly and supportive team and one of the most beautiful countryside locations in the South West.

The role

This is a countryside resort offering self-catering lodges, cottages, and hotel accommodation, alongside leisure facilities, restaurants, and extensive outdoor experiences. I am looking for an organised and hands-on Assistant Housekeeping Manager to support the Housekeeping Manager in delivering exceptional cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction across the whole site.

You will lead by example, taking an active part in the day-to-day running of the housekeeping team while making sure every area, from guest accommodation to public spaces, consistently meets a high standard. It is a role that rewards attention to detail, calm leadership, and a genuine pride in how things look and feel for the guest.

What the role involves

On the operational side, you will support the Housekeeping Manager in overseeing the daily operation across hotel rooms, lodges, cottages, and public areas, allocating resources in line with business needs.

You will carry out regular inspections, make sure all accommodation is prepared to the highest standard ahead of arrival, and help plan and deliver deep cleaning schedules and seasonal projects. Monitoring linen stocks, amenities, supplies, and equipment will also sit with you.

Leading the team is central to the role. You will supervise, motivate, and support the housekeeping team day to day, assist with recruitment, induction, training, and development, and run briefings that keep standards consistent. You will help manage rotas, holiday requests, and staffing levels to meet demand, and you will set the tone for a positive and guest-focused team culture.

On guest experience, you will respond promptly and professionally to requests and feedback, work closely with Reception, Maintenance, Reservations, and Operations to keep everything seamless, and make sure preferences and special requests are communicated and delivered. You will also bring ideas for raising standards further.

You will keep all housekeeping activity compliant with company policies, health and safety regulations, and COSHH requirements, carry out regular checks on the safe use and storage of chemicals and equipment, report maintenance and safety concerns promptly, and support environmentally responsible practices.

What I am looking for

You will have previous housekeeping supervisory or team leader experience within a hotel, resort, holiday park, or similar hospitality setting. Strong organisation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to motivate a team in a fast-paced environment are all essential, as are good communication skills and a flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and bank holidays.

It would be an advantage if you have managed housekeeping across multiple accommodation types, have knowledge of housekeeping management systems or property management software, hold COSHH and health and safety training, or have worked in a luxury hospitality or resort environment.

Above all, I am looking for someone proactive and calm under pressure, with high personal standards, strong people skills, and a real passion for delivering an exceptional guest experience.

The hours

This is a full-time, permanent position of 40 hours per week. Flexibility is needed to meet the operational needs of the resort, including weekends, bank holidays, and peak seasonal periods.

If this sounds like the right fit, I would be glad to tell you more.
